Stefan Noort, IHK Hanover: "Options are available for SMEs to take legal and organisational precautions in this respect. Admittedly companies must take an active approach, and in this respect lack of action is often driven by a lack of awareness.

 

 

 

 

Norbert Luckhardt, Editor in Chief <KES>: "The most decisive factor is to set up a sensible framework, which matches the needs of the companies concerned, the legal formalities and the requirements of employees. If such a solution is supported or at least accepted by all concerned, then it should be implemented successfully and without any problem."

 

 

 

Ralf Benzmüller, manager G Data Security Labs: "Policies must be negotiated individually by each company. They must be supported by all the participating parties. Good software supports an effective implementation of these policies."

 

 

 

 

Dr Phillip Neuwald, legal expert: "IT security in the company starts with both the management and the employees being aware of the danger sources.

 

 

 

 

 

Wolfgang Back: "There is a need for a lot of clarification where security and data protection are concerned. Many business managers and supervisors are not aware that they are responsible for what takes place on the Internet. Sometimes this can end with a nasty surprise."

Wolfgang Rudolph: "A very, very important discussion, from which it is apparent that most companies aren't even aware of the problem. It is difficult to find the fine line between the legally necessary surveillance of corporate data traffic and employee monitoring which does not infringe on their personal rights.
